Members of the Islip Fire Department's Tactical Rescue Team and Rescue Squad supported the annual Maggie Fischer Great South Bay Coss Bay Swim on July 24. Islip contributed by providing Marine Unit 3-4-26 and it four-man crew. A total of 86 swimmers completed the 6.2 mile swim, which runs across the bay between the Fire Island Lighthouse Dock and ending at Walker Beach Park in Brightwaters. While deployed unit 3-4-26 and its crew recovered two swimmers who were in distress and returned them safely to shore.
