Islip Firefighter Matt Infante and six others aboard a USAF HH-60G rescue helicopter escaped injury when their helicopter went down near Kabul, Afghanistan, on January 16, 2008. Matt recently deployed to Afghanistan as part of the New York Air National Guard’s 106th Rescue Wing. The Chief’s Office of the Islip Fire Department is happy to report that Matt and his crew are all doing well and looking forward to getting back into the air. Firefighter Infante, who made previous deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq, is currently serving as an HH-60G Flight Engineer and in civilian life is a member of the New York City Fire Department.
