Pedestrian struck and pinned under vehicle in parkinglot of railroad station

On the evening of Saturday April 10, 2010 at 2230 hours the Islip Fire Department was alerted for a report of an motor vehicle accident (MVA) with heavy rescue on Nassau Street in front of the Islip Train Station. Upon arrival 1st Assistant Chief Stenger notified responding units that the correct location was in parking lot of the off Islip Avenue (Route 111). Upon sizeup 3-4-31 discovered a male vicitim that was trapped beneath a vehicle after being struck. 3-4-31 determined that the victim needed to be extricated forthwith and with the assistance of the Suffolk County Police, 3-4-31 and 3-4-63 flipped the car over onto its side to access the trapped patient.

Ambulance 3-4-3 responded and quickly removed the patient,, who was in serious condition, to southside hospital with advanced life support interventions in progress. The scene was then turned over to Suffolk County Police for an accident investigation.
